Interested in learning more about continuous improvement? Introduction to Continuous Improvement introduces you to Lean principles, methodology, tools and terminology. The day will consist of a series of training modules, interactive exercises/simulations, and discussion/reflection times. At the end of the training, you should be able to start thinking Lean and apply the tools to your work. Sign up here! Training class is from 8:30-3:30pm at 2100 Fleur.
Have an improvement idea? Lean is a strategy to do work and improve processes. About a year ago, DMPS began building a lean culture where leadership supports and promotes the empowerment of employees and building their problem-solving ability while striving for continuous improvement. Only a small number of processes have been reviewed using Lean methodology. Your help is needed to identify the additional areas that need improvement throughout the district. Project Updates
FMLA
Members from Human Resources and Business & Finance came together to map out the FMLA process. One root cause for the waste in the process was from lack of knowledge. As a result, the team has added FMLA to SafeSchools, created a flowchart available on BenefitFocus and added FMLA information to @DMPS. The team is now checking to ensure the increased access to resources has increased use of FMLA.
Purchasing to Procurement Kaizen
IFAS has now been updated to allow teachers/staff to enter their own orders into the Central Stores online website ordering system. Bookkeepers/office managers/administrative assistants will still assign account codes to the orders and either approve or deny the orders. If approved by the first approver, the order will continue as normal through the IFAS approval chain. For more information, contact the purchasing department.

Technology utilized a new problem solving tool called A3. As a team, they went through seven steps in sequential order to brainstorm and problem solve around a tiered support model for the Help Desk. The seven steps are:

- Stakeholders – who is impacted
